About GazetteSearch

When a person dies in South Africa, the executor publishes two notices in the Government Gazette. The guide says what each one means and what happens next.

This site gives each notice its own page: name, dates, estate number, executor, Master's office, and which gazette printed it.

Coverage

The national Government Gazette's Legal Notices A, from June 2012. The provincial gazettes do not carry estate notices, so they are not included. The home page shows the earliest and latest gazette held. Only the two deceased estate notice types.

The notices are printed in the Government Gazette, a public record. Fields are extracted from the PDF text automatically and can contain errors. The PDF is the record.
